Therapist in Austin texas

Hi, I’m Emily

Being a therapist is meaningful to me in the ways that I am able to connect with and support other amazing people. You guys really are amazing! I became a counselor after giving birth to and staying home with my identical twin daughters. I learned so much about being a parent, and it made me want to reach out and connect with others on deeply universal experiences on the journey of parenthood - sadness, anger, struggle and joy.

Before arriving here, I was a social worker for 10 years gathering valuable experience in public schools, non profit organizations and state agencies. In other words, I know what it feels like to work with complex families facing big problems in a high paced environment, and also what it is like to work a desk job.

These days, life is dominated by work and my family. I grew up in Texas but have an adventurous heart and love to travel and try new things as often as I can.

My Clients are…

  • The journey of becoming a parent is one of the most transformative a person can make. You may begin to re-examine your childhood, your relationship with your parents and experience new levels of love and fear as though you have never known. It is a lot. Parents in my practice receive compassion, kindness and curiosity and have the opportunity to explore how to experience parenting in a way that feels seen, heard and validated.

  • Women play a unique role in our society as mothers and caregivers, a role that comes with unspoken expectations and challenges. Women in my practice have the opportunity to explore and process these unspoken elements wherever they are on their journey - through infertility, pregnancy, perinatal loss or in motherhood.

  • It is hard to get through life without experiencing some kind of trauma today. Some of that trauma is complex - it occurs in relationships, in families. This kind of trauma can cause people to question themselves and engage in relationships and behaviors that hurt themselves and others. If you are a person who has experienced complex trauma, this practice is a safe place for you to begin to explore how you want your life to change and work toward healing.

  • A couple’s relationship is THE foundation of every family. Life is challenging and throws curves at all of us. Just like houses require care, so does a relationship. Couples counseling is the place to tend to, repair and strengthen that foundation. Couples in my practice are supported and engaged learning new skills to enhance friendship and connection. This friendship and connection is key to navigating conflict without harm, supporting one another through difficult times and working together to make each partner’s life dreams come true.
